There are 27 general hospitals of them 6 are Level one Trauma Center and 12 regional trauma centers. All hospitals affiliated to one of 4 universities with medical schools.
There is a single Emergency Medical System (EMS). The ambulance services – the EMS, based mostly on paramedics. There are about 1500 employees and about 7000 volunteers, all of them trained as medics or paramedics.
There are about 55000 nurses in Israel; among them 77% are Registered Nurses (RN). Training program for RN based on 2 main Cor-Curriculums: those how are studied without academic degree; their training program continuous 3 years, and the academic program that provided by nursing school that affiliated to one of the universities, and continuous 4 years.
In order to become an RN, candidates must have matriculation certificate and pass the psychometric enter exam to the university.

Behavioral Science: introduction to psychology and development psychology.

Basic nursing studies included: the structure of the health system in Israel, ethics and law in nursing, welfare and health, nursing theories, health promotion, physical assessment, communication, QA, case management and emergencies.
The clinical studies included medical nursing, geriatric nursing, pediatric nursing, gynecology and obstetrics nursing, childhood nursing, community nursing, psychiatric nursing and emergencies and trauma.
Nurses how graduated the academic program can continue their professional training to become certified in specific area such as midwife, emergency nursing, dialysis, pediatric/adult intensive care, neonatal intensive care, psychiatry, public health and geriatric. These courses continues 1 year and have board exam by the MOH.
Academic programs are available for MA and PhD.
